Walls

This project captured the beginning of Miami’s Design District gentrification in the early 2010s. The relatively low cost of living in Wynwood at the time made it a magnet for those with empty pockets but rich in culture and talent. This project looked to document the stories that its residents were telling about themselves and about Miami herself on the walls of the neighborhood.

In a sense this bit of Midtown’s history is a reflection of Miami’s greater history as a safe haven for hundreds of thousands of immigrants who arrived on her shores to rewrite their stories.
